Marketing Help for Non-Profits 5 p.m. Nov. 22, West Hartford

This is an amazing free opportunity to learn more about marketing a non-profit organization! On Nov. 22 at 5 p.m., Brian Keane, author and president of SmartPower, will give a talk at the Friends Meeting House, 144 S. Quaker Lane, West Hartford. SmartPower has just been named “The Best Nonprofit Marketing Firm in the United States” by Wealth and Management.

As President of SmartPower. Brian Keane has helped to shape the energy debate in the United States. Clients include major utility companies, state agencies, the federal government and private foundations. SmartPower has won awards from the EPA , US Department of Energy, the Service Industry Advertising Award and Connecticut DEEP. Keane has been recognized as one of Connecticut’s “Outstanding 40 Under 40”and is a regular panelist on the “White House Chronicle.”

The event will be followed by a light supper, a film on renewable energy in Germany and a display of exhibits and literature concerning energy issues in Connecticut.

At 7 p.m. Joel Gordes of Environmental Energy Solutions will receive an award for his work on our vulnerable electric grid, “Our fragile and vulnerable centrally-generated electric system is suicide!”

A Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Brian Keane, author of “Green Is Good: Save Money, Make Money And Help Your Community Profit From Clean Energy.” Free copies will be available.
The evening will close with songs by Connor Millican of “WISE OLD MOON.”
